National ICT Hub Awards 2008

Delivering Social or Environmental Benefits through ICT

Winner: Get Connected

This award is for those voluntary and community organisations that have used ICT to make a difference to the society we live in - such as promoting awareness of an issue or by improving the lives of others.

Get Connected was awarded for improving their service provision for under 25 year olds by offering their helpine services as webchat. Through Boldchat a young person only needs to click on the webchat button on our website to open up a conversation with a volunteer Helpline Worker. They can then talk in real time and in confidence about any issue, and receive direct support and information from a Helpline Worker. Webchat provides a helpline service that costs only £720 each year in software, can be staffed and supported by existing employees and volunteers without requiring any additional infrastructure.
