National ICT Hub Awards 2008

Best Use of ICT Accessibility

Winner: The Riverside Centre

This award is for those voluntary and community organisations that have adapted their technology to improve accessibility, enabling them to better deliver their services and reach more people.

The Riverside Centre won the award for enabling individuals, for example with learning disabilities and/or sensory loss to develop their skills and in turn support other users to gain new skills. Services include a fully accessible Rural IT Bus, basic IT sessions to enable ‘silver surfers’ to contact extended family (one 94 year great grandparent was able to exchange emails with Great Grandson in Australia inc pictures of great-great grandchild!), special software programmes for memory club members, CV preparation for Job Club members inc CV preparation, and learning support for NVQ and Learn Direct sessions.
